The Kansas City Chiefs fell back to .500 after their Week 11 loss to the division rival Denver Broncos.

They also suffered their second losing streak of the season, marking the first time that’s happened since Patrick Mahomes became the starting quarterback in 2018. Kansas City’s five losses are also just one behind their most in a single season in the Mahomes era.

The Broncos’ victory also marked just the third time they beat the Chiefs during Mahomes’ tenure (he has a 12-3 regular-season record against Denver).

Sunday’s game was one the Chiefs would like to forget, but star tight end Travis Kelce actually put forth arguably his best performance of the season.

The 36-year-old caught a season-high nine passes for 91 yards and a touchdown. It was just the second time this season he topped 78 yards and just the fourth time he had more than five receptions in game this season.

In addition to his breakout performance, Kelce also got some good news on Saturday when the NFL published its list of on-field, safety-related fines for Week 11 and he wasn’t on it — though he probably should have been.

Late in the second half of that Broncos game, Kelce got into a physical altercation with Denver cornerback Ja’Quan McMillian.

After hauling in a Mahomes 10-yard pass for a first down, Kelce went to get up from the turf but McMillian was hovering over him. Kelce gave the fourth-year CB a subtle arm shove once he got to his feet before getting in McMillian’s face and continuing to talk smack until his teammates pulled him away.

After reviewing the incident, the NFL decided Kelce’s actions didn’t warrant any supplemental discipline — though he easily could have been fined for unsportsmanlike conduct, which typically carries a fine of $14,491 for fist offenses which escalates to $20,288 for a second offense.

Given the was already penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct back in Week 2 against the Philadelphia Eagles, Kelce will likely be penalized more than $20,000 the next time it happens.

Kelce has been fined a total of $133,918 (10 infractions) over his 13-year future Hall of Fame career.
