Following a Wednesday night matchup on the road against the Orlando Magic, the Golden State Warriors weren’t sure about Steph Curry’s status on the second night of their back-to-back set in Florida.
Sure enough, Curry missed the game against the Miami Heat. Fortunately, his absences won’t extend beyond that.
According to the Warriors’ injury report, Curry is no longer dealing with a setback that’s in danger of keeping him out of Friday’s NBA Cup action against the Portland Trail Blazers. The veteran guard is available to play.
...This season, Curry missed a handful of games. There was a three-game stretch at the beginning of November, during which he missed time due to an illness. When he returned to the court to face the Oklahoma City Thunder on November 11, Curry played for just 20 minutes.
Over the next four games, Curry wasn’t dealing with a minutes restriction. He averaged 33 minutes per game, posting 34.5 points per game, shooting a 50 percent clip from the field, and knocking down 40 percent of his threes. Along with his scoring, Curry dished out 4.8 assists per game and came down with 4.3 rebounds per matchup.
In his most recent outing, Curry knocked down 52 percent of his shots against the Magic. He bounced back from a nine-point showing against the New Orleans Pelicans with a 34-point outing in Orlando. Despite the stellar scoring outing from Curry, the Warriors took on a 121-113 loss.
Golden State’s recent matchup on the road in Miami resulted in a loss. Missing several key players, the Warriors dropped the matchup 110-96. Heading into Friday’s action, the Warriors hold a 9-8 record. With Curry, they are 8-5 on the year.
The Warriors and the Blazers are set for a 10 PM ET matchup, with both teams participating in their third NBA Cup group stage game this year. The Warriors are looking for their second NBA Cup group win.
