But before the Yankees can upgrade their roster, they need to re-sign or replace their own free agents, including superstar Cody Bellinger. Bellinger should be the team's top priority this winter.
ClutchPoints' Bailey Bassett recently predicted the Yankees would re-sign Bellinger on a blockbuster five-year, $120 million deal this offseason.
..."The New York Yankees lost a star outfielder to MLB free agency last offseason in the form of Juan Soto. They can't afford to lose another, so they need to do whatever it takes to bring back Cody Bellinger," Bassett wrote. "After a couple of down years to end his Dodgers' tenure, Bellinger has clearly established himself as a star."
Bellinger is a star and had one of his best seasons with the Yankees.
The Yankees need to pair him next to Aaron Judge in the outfield for the next few years. He's an excellent defender with an impact bat.
Signing him for five years and $120 million would seemingly fit both sides perfectly. The Yankees can afford to make a move like that while saving some money to spend on an infielder and a bullpen arm. Bellinger might want a bit more money, but the projected deal seems reasonable.
